The Goutorbe family have been tending vines in Damery for generations but it was with the marriage of Jules Goutorbe and Louise Bouillot that the Domaine officially came into being in 1911. The business has been passed down primarily though the women of the family and since 1973 has been overseen by Dominique Papleux and her husband. Their 9 hectares are tended manually but the cellar is fully modernised. The assemblage is always done by the family with the support of an oenologist and all the wines are cellared for at least three years before release. Dominique’s son Bastien joined the business this year making him the 9th generation family member.
