The Vacheron family have been living and making wine in Sancerre for generations and the domaine is now run by cousins Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent. Both have experience outside of the Loire and they have striven to make the domaine Biodynamic – the remaining 3.3 ha out of a total of 46 ha are in the process of being certified. Great care and consideration is practiced in the vineyard with only plant-based preparations used on the soil and all sowing, hoeing and harvesting done by hand. The Vacherons only have vineyards in Sancerre and their sites cover a variety of terroir – Flint for minerality and aroma, Limestone for fruit, elegance and balanced acidity, and White Marl for a touch of richness. Careful blending across these terroirs produces wines of amazing concentration, power and elegance making Vacheron Sancerre truly unique. The same attention to detail is present in the winery with rigorous sorting and gentle pressing for the whites and all red grapes de-stemmed and coolly macerated like a ‘tea infusion’. We are proud to have these wonderful wines in our portfolio and delighted to be working with such a dedicated and talented wine-making family. We are not alone in believing that Domaine Vacheron produces some of the finest wines of the Loire.
